There's something so simple that could change your life in a split second. It’s a very personal decision, and not an easy one. But doing it could be the best decision you ever make.
No, I’m not talking about calf implants.
Shaving your head.
Yes, shaving your head.
For most people, shaving their head might seem like a defeat, but it couldn’t be farther from that. Shaving your head can feel like a huge personal victory. It has many benefits that you may not realize... Not to mention the shaved head look is timeless and will never go out of style.
Stay with me, and you might be reaching for your razor by the time you’re done reading.
1. Confidence
Shaving your head can give you the secret superpower that everyone wants.
Confidence.
People like to be around people who are confident. Confidence has an enchanting and seductive aroma. It attracts whomever comes into its path. It is spellbinding, dazzling and mesmerizing.
Everyone has this available to them. It’s free. Shaving your head takes your destiny into your own hands. It’s a relatively small act, but it has big consequences.
But don’t take it from me. Here is what some people said after shaving their heads.
“Looking back, this was the single most empowering moment of life, as not only did it lift a weight off my shoulders (quite literally) but it also helped to take back control of my life and restore my ailing confidence.” - Paul Inman
And it’s not just men. Women who shave their heads also experience similar emotions.
"I feel ridiculously confident and empowered, and proud to have a shaved head in a time when loving yourself is a rebellious act. People are still pretty hung up on having longer hair, but with more representation, I feel like we've really influenced a shift. This is probably the truest form of myself that I've ever found.” - Jacey Julep
2. Look Younger
Everyone wants to look younger, right?
People spend their money on creams, facials, surgery, all just to look younger. If you are thinking about shaving your head, you are minutes away from looking younger. No need to spend any money on all those things. Just by shaving your head, you will immediately look younger.
Example A.
Patrick Stewart has looked young for the past 50 years. His secret? Yes, you guessed it. Amazing genes. Oh, and his shaved head!
If aliens landed from space, and we had to send one person to represent humans, I’d vote for Patrick Stewart.
People tend to associate a shaved head/baldness with vitality and virility. Compare that to hair that’s hanging on for dear life, which doesn’t have many positive associations.
Which leads us to…
3. Hiding baldness and receding hairlines
The combover. The last bastion of those fighting back receding hairlines and male pattern baldness. We see it all around us. People trying to pull off optical illusions to cover their head. But is anyone really fooled?
It makes sense, though. If losing your hair is seen as a sign of getting older, then we'll do whatever it takes to keep it.
The combover is even more pronounced in a younger person. Someone in their 20s and 30s who starts to experience hair loss will fight back with all their might. And understandably so. It’s a bigger leap to make at that age than when you’re older.
But in just a few strokes, you can go from combover and receding hairline to sleek and sexy -- male or female!
When you shave your head, you are in control. If you own it, people won’t think about whether you have male pattern baldness, alopecia, or a receding hairline.
They will just see a confidence machine.
4. Organized and under control
Is your life organized and under control? If you’re like most of us and it’s not, there’s something you can do about it.
A shaved head.
A shaved head looks mature and in control. Men and women love people who take control of their own destiny. Plus, you won’t need to worry about hairstyles. You will always look good. Consistently.
Aesthetically, there is something just so appealing about a shaved head. The first impression people have of you will be that you have your life put together. Even if you don't! They don’t have to know that.
Just Do It
If you've been considering a head shave, don’t overthink it. If you don’t like it, you can always go back to where you were before.
And all these things apply just as much to women as men.
"I'd like other women to know that it's OK to stop hiding behind hair and try something new. We may fear doing so because of the names we might be called, but women are not their hair. There are no negatives to a buzz cut. I'm not defined by it. Plus, I get to sleep like a wild animal and not wake up to bed hair.” - Jasmine Sessoms
