When I was around 17 years old, I started losing a lot of my hair at the top. I felt very self-conscious. My blonde hair was very long back in the day. I wore it up and combed back, short on the sides. Very boyband-y. I was miserable watching myself go bald. I tried so many different haircuts to hide my bald spot and receding hairline, but to no avail.
I was 19 years old when I realized it was time to shave it. It just felt like the right route to take. I even had a head-shaving party. Each friend would shave a piece off, haha!
Now I feel confident, masculine, and entirely comfortable in my own skin. Having a bald head at a young age has built character and resolve in my life that I never had before.
Being bald and bearded at 22 has its pros and cons, just like anything else. But the good things definitely outweigh any weird looks I get. The women that I date appreciate masculinity and traditional values much more, and the respect of fellow men is immediate. Going bald is one of the best things that's ever happened to me.
